Philip Colleck, Ltd. is pleased to present ICONS STARS SKYSCRAPERS STILL LIFES a special holiday exhibition of drawings and paintings that will be on view from November 15th through December 23rd, 2011.
Images inspired by the silver screen and the steel and granite skyscrapers of the era are the works of Ronny Cohen. Still lifes and portraits inspired by French order and beauty and an American spirit are the works of Diana O'Rourke Jacoby.
Ronny Cohen has been an artist since childhood. She has a doctorate degree in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts, N.Y.U, and has been a part of the art world in New York as a critic, curator and dealer. Ronny is a native New Yorker whose family roots in the theater has led her to her love of iconic screen images. Her love of skyscrapers comes from growing up in city with so many.
Diana O'Rourke Jacoby has also been an artist since childhood. She has been a part of the antiques world in New York as a partner in Philip Colleck, Ltd., dealers in eighteenth century English furniture and works of art. She grew up in Long Island, New York City, and has lived in Lausanne, Switzerland and Rome, Italy, and has enjoyed many visits to France. She comes from a family of painters and theatrical performers and musicians as well as builders and landscape architects.
Ronny Cohen and Diana O'Rourke Jacoby were classmates at Finch College both majoring in art history and were involved in the Finch College Museum Gallery whose events attracted such luminaries as Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali.
