Cowan's Auctions, Inc. inaugural Fine Jewelry and Timepieces Auction realized $560,000 in sales on March 29. The 300-lot sale, held at Cowan’s Auctions salesroom, featured a collection of signed and unsigned jewelry, timepieces, handbags and other couture.
The highest selling lot in the sale was a 42.38-carat Diamond Necklace, which realized $74,025. This 18K white gold and diamond straight-line-style necklace has 79 round brilliant-cut diamonds, G-H color and VS-SI clarity.
Diamond rings, earrings, and eternity bands also did particularly well in the auction. A 4.96-carat Emerald-Cut Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring sold for $38,187. A pair of 3.01 Cushion Cut Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond Earrings sold for $17,625 and a 12.68-carat Diamond Eternity Band realized $47,000.
A number of wristwatches and pocket watches hammered down above their high estimates in the timepieces portion of the auction. A Patek Philippe with 18K Gold Mesh Band hammered down at $19,975. An Audemars Piguet Gentleman’s 18K Gold Dress Watch realized $3,600 and a Vintage Diamond Set Pocket Watch sold for $3,818.
