Charlton Hall Auctions is pleased to announce the offering of an impressive selection of American Art Nouveau glass works from the Dr. Edward L. and Helen McConnell Collection in their upcoming sale From Museum Vaults and Private Collections on Friday, 12 December at 1:00pm and Saturday, 13 December at 10:00am.  Comprising over 900 lots, this sale will additionally feature objects deaccessioned from museums and institutions in Georgia, Virginia, and the Carolinas, as well as, fine art, furniture, silver, and jewelry from important estates and private collections.

Dr. and Mrs. McConnell took a connoisseur’s eye to collecting works of American Art Nouveau glass and accumulated rare and important pieces by Louis Comfort Tiffany and Steuben Glass Works, many of which have been featured in museum exhibitions.  Their dedication to their collection resulted in a carefully selected assemblage of blown glass, which has garnered attention from art glass experts across the country.  A variety of pieces are available in the upcoming sale, including Arts & Crafts bronze fixtures with Steuben and Quezal glass shades, a fine Galle cameo glass vase with molded hyacinth decoration, and a striking Loetz Art Nouveau art glass vase.

In addition to the McConnell Collection, many other works of fine art glass will be available.  Among these items are Tiffany Favrile glass shades and impressive Handel and Pairpoint reverse-painted table lamp shades.  Other works include French cameo glass vases and an assortment of shimmering iridescent vases by Lotten Studios, Lundberg Studios, and Steuben Glass Works.

All lots in the upcoming sale will be available for public viewing at Charlton Hall during Preview Exhibition, which opens with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception Saturday, 6 December from 4pm-7pm.  Charlton Hall staff is eagerly anticipating a successful auction on 12 and 13 December and will be happy to offer free catalogues to the first fifty individuals to mention this press release in an email to chg@CharltonHallAuctions.com.  For more information, please visit www.CharltonHallAuctions.com or call (803)779-5678.
