The gallery 100 kubik presents the exhibition "Knots of stone“ of the Catalan artist Lluís Cera (Barcelona, 1967).

Cera investigates the hidden qualities of a material with the result of unusual forms of expressions. With the artist doing that, the observer starts having doubts in front of the artworks about whether his senses are still well transmitting the information about the nature of the observed artwork‘s material.

It’s about a sculptural trompe-l’oeil effect that seems to pursue the same goals as the ones in times of the Renaissance: To invite us to get to know new forms of nature and to open a gate to the reign of illusions. That’s why in the end, the structure of marble seems characterized by impossible lightness and the hardness of the mass seems replaced by softness which allows the material to form curves or to join up itself with stone and steel into knots. The transformations seem obvious and reality unimaginable.
