Lyme Art Association Presents "August Light" and "Pastel Brilliance"

The Lyme Art Association, at 90 Lyme Street, Old Lyme Connecticut, will present an exhibition celebrating landscape, still life, and figurative scenes captured on canvas and in sculpture on view from August 1 through September 20, 2014. The August Light: Summer Painting and Sculpture Exhibition for Members is on view in the Association’s three front galleries. A separate juried show, Pastel Brilliance, in the Goodman Gallery will highlight the talented artist-members of the Connecticut Pastel Society.
      
The opening night reception for both exhibitions will be held on Friday, August 8 from 6-8pm, open and free to the public. Both exhibitions will continue through September  20.
      
The Lyme Art Association is thrilled to once again host the Connecticut Pastel Society in Old Lyme. Exhibition Chairwoman and CPS Signature Member, Cindy Mazzaferro explains: "The Connecticut Pastel Society is happy to once again partner with LAA to provide education about the pastel medium through our free Triple Demonstration on August 2, from 1-3:30 at LAA and showcase some of our most talented artists during the Pastel Brilliance Exhibition.  This year during the night of LAA reception, August 8, there will be a small pastel works auction.  In addition, our donated triple demo paintings will be available through the CPS silent auction which will end the last day of the LAA Exhibition, September 20, at 4 pm.” Bids can be placed in person or called in to the LAA at (860) 434-7802.
 
The August 2nd free triple demo by famous artists Claudia Seymour, Gigi Horr Liverant, Christine Ivers is open to the public, both art enthusiasts and students are welcomed. New this year, Connecticut Pastel Society will be having a small works auction the night of the reception, August 8 from 6-8 pm. “This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase beautiful paintings from some of the most renowned pastelists,” says Mazzaferro.  
 
As part of the sculpture component to the exhibition, the LAA is also delighted to welcome members of the Connecticut Sculpture Society as invited guests.
 
Receiving days for the Lyme Art Association’s August Light: Summer Painting & Sculpture juried exhibition are Monday, July 28th from 10-5pm and Tuesday, July 29th from 10-5pm. This is a member exhibition, however anyone may join as a member on receiving day if they would like to enter artwork.
