Best-in-class show gears up for 60th Diamond Jubilee
The Winter Antiques Show is proud to announce the selection of two new exhibitors for the Show’s upcoming Diamond Jubilee: R 20th Century, a New York City-based gallery specializing in international 20th century design, and the royally appointed Wartski, one of Britain’s foremost authorities on antique jewelry, Fabergé, silver, and objets de vertu.
The upcoming Winter Antiques Show, held from January 24-February 2, 2014, at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, will celebrate its 60th year Diamond Jubilee as America's most prestigious antiques show, providing museums, collectors, dealers, design professionals, and first-time buyers with opportunities to view and purchase exceptional pieces showcased by 73 renowned experts in American, English, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts. Every object exhibited at the Show is vetted for quality and authenticity. All net proceeds support East Side House Settlement, a non-profit institution in the South Bronx that provides social services to community residents.
“We are thrilled to welcome R 20th Century and Wartski to an already wonderful lineup of world class dealers,” said Arie Kopelman, Chairman of the Winter Antiques Show.

New exhibitors at the 2014 Winter Antiques Show:
R 20th Century
Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman founded R 20th Century in 1997 to realize their combined goal of promoting a closer study, appreciation, and preservation of design from North America, South America, Europe, and Asia produced between 1945 and today. R 20th Century represents a distinguished group of designers whose work is among the most innovative and finely crafted of their time, including Wendell Castle (American, b. 1932), Greta Magnusson Grossman (Swedish, 1906-1999), and Joaquim Tenreiro (Brazilian, 1906-1992). Meyers and Snyderman have garnered international acclaim for their groundbreaking exhibitions and publications and for their commitment to preserving history through their extensive archives, library, and private collection. Consistently, Meyers and Snyderman exhibit an extraordinary acumen for discovering and bringing designers to the forefront of the rapidly escalating design market.
Wartski
Wartski is a family firm of antique dealers specializing in works of art by Carl Fabergé, antique jewelry, silver, and objets de vertu. The firm was founded in Bangor, North Wales in 1865 by Morris Wartski, maternal great-grandfather of the present day Chairman, Nicholas Snowman. By 1907, two shops had been established in the fashionable seaside resort of Llandudno. In 1911, Emanuel Snowman, Morris Wartski’s son-in-law, opened another branch of the firm in London. He was among the first to negotiate with the government of the Soviet Union in the 1920s, purchasing treasures that had been confiscated after the revolution of 1917. For more than a decade he acquired many important works of art, including twelve of the Imperial Easter Eggs by Carl Fabergé and a gold chalice commissioned by Catherine the Great (now in the Hillwood Museum in Washington, DC). In 1997, Managing Director Geoffrey Munn curated an exhibition at Wartski of 100 tiaras including seven examples lent by members of the Royal Family. Along with being patronized by King Edward VII, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the firm holds the Warrants for H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. Wartski made wedding rings of Welsh gold for H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, H.R.H. The Duchess of Cornwall, and H.R.H. The Duchess of Cambridge.
