The third edition of Spring Show NYC promises not only a banquet of treasures to enthrall the eye but also a feast of thought-provoking events to edify the brain. Here is a rundown of tours, lectures and panel discussions that kick off May 2, the day the Spring Show opens to the public:

Clive Kandel: A Curator's Perspective
Clive Kandel, Curator of Fine Jewelry for and Consultant to 1stdibs. com, leads visitors on a tour of the Spring Show highlighting the extraordinary jewelry on offer. Meet at Show Entrance.
Born in London, England, Clive Kandel began collecting Cartier jewels when he was just 18 - building on his family's rich history in the Amsterdam and London-based diamond trading business and leading to his own shop on Grafton Street, London in the 1970's. While working with Romain de Tirtoff in the design and creation of the Erté Jewelry Collection, Kandel realized the importance of and elevated the presentation of pre-war American costume jewelry. Recognized for his contributions to African-American development, Kandel is the principal of Reville & Rossiter, exhibiting in booth 407, and Magnificent Costume Jewels.

The New York School of Interior Design hosts a lively and informative show-and-tell session with three of New York's most prominent interior designers. Amy Lau, Juan Montoya and Ronald Bricke present some of their favorite recent projects, and reveal their tricks of the trade for creating beautiful spaces that are not only showcases for art and antiques, but flattering backgrounds for collections and comfortable, livable homes as well. Eero Saarinen: Furniture for Everyman
Eero Saarinen's career as a furniture designer began when he was a teenager and spanned the remainder of his short life. From his earliest furniture, done for the master bedroom at the family's residence at Cranbrook in 1929, to his final series for Knoll Associates almost thirty years later, Saarinen's furniture can be described as progressive, reaching beyond the design trends of the day, expanding on them with unprecedented innovations in style and technique, and leading furniture design thinking in new directions. He was one of the first generation of American modernist furniture designers, and as such helped shape the American contract furniture industry that emerged after the Second World War. Brian Lutz, the author of Eero Saarinen: Furniture for Everyman, covers the full scope of Saarinen's furniture design career. Presented by Pointed Leaf Press

Peter Trippi: An Editor's Perspective
Peter Trippi, editor of Fine Art Connoisseur, guides visitors through
the show highlighting his personal favorites from the significant pieces
on view.
Accomplished author Peter Trippi has served as editor of the magazine Fine Art Connoisseur since 2006 in addition to curating exhibitions, lecturing widely and operating his own firm, Projects in 19th-Century Art. Trippi previously directed New York's Dahesh Museum of Art, as well as holding senior posts at the Brooklyn Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
