Super Bowl artistry is extending off the field and into an Indianapolis landmark as IDADA, the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association, presents Turf, a presentation of experiential art and design. This brand new presentation of 20 juried artists is going on now through Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2012, just 1,700 yards from Lucas Oil Stadium.

The old Indianapolis City Hall building at the corner of Alabama and Ohio streets – a 100-year-old landmark formerly housing the Indiana State Museum and, most recently, the interim Central Library – is the IDADA Art Pavilion, a public space where selected artists have installed their work.

The IDADA Art Pavilion is free and open to the public daily.  In the evenings, the pavilion is available to host eclectic Super Bowl gatherings and parties with catering provided by the Skyline Club.

Starting drive for Turf

Turf aims to drive visitors from the pavilion to various IDADA-member galleries in a 20-square-block area of downtown Indianapolis, and will culminate with the Feb. 3 “First Friday” gallery tour, making it a highlight of the citywide series of events during Super Bowl weekend.

“Indianapolis has a wide variety of high-caliber artists and galleries, and this is our chance to let the world know it,” says IDADA treasurer and gallery owner Mark Ruschman. “It is a rare opportunity to showcase all that we have to offer to a national and international audience.”

“To my knowledge,” he added, “this has never been attempted by a Super Bowl host city before.”

The IDADA Art Pavilion and Turf is a joint effort of IDADA, the Super Bowl Host Committee, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Mayor’s office.
