Art and objects can span centuries and geography ranging in purpose from profit or pleasure to posterity. Some transcend all categories. At METRO, Jan. 22-25 at NYC's Metropolitan Pavilion, in addition to a selection of unusual collector items that represent a cabinet of curiosities, Marion Harris is introducing two artists, one from Australia and one from Scotland, whose works are both classic and curious.
Robert Buratti Australian Robert Buratti’s is making his New York debut at METRO with intricate pen and ink drawings in the Renaissance style. A scholar of eastern meditation, visionary symbolism and religion, he is considered an authority in the field of esoteric art in Australia where he is also an arts commentator in the media. His remarkable works are a perfect match for Cabinet of Curiosities, the theme of Marion Harris’s presentation.
Ian Charles Scott Ian Charles Scott, originally from Wick, a fishing village in the far north of Scotland, is an artist whose intensely detailed work reflects the remote mystical quality of the Scottish Highlands. Using squid ink, tea and whisky alongside paint and watercolors, Ian Scott’s works are in numerous significant collections including the Scottish Royal Academy and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh
