Now in its ninth year, The Main Line Antiques Show will be showcasing its beautiful wares at the Dixon Center at Cabrini College November 15 and 16. A number of important east coast and midwest dealers will have antique jewelry, paintings, textiles, antique and 20th century furniture, folk art, prints, silver, Staffordshire, and more on view for purchase.
Show Chairman Nick Vandekar and the volunteer Show Committee see a long standing interest in antiques along Philadelphia’s Main Line and the surrounding area. Indeed, antiques are timeless and blend well with every uniquely individual style of decor. The Show has gained in popularity every year, with nearly 2000 attendees in 2013. The Honorary Chairs are Mrs. S. Matthews V. Hamilton, Jr. and Mrs. J. Maxwell Moran. The beneficiary is Surrey Services for Seniors.
Antique enthusiasts, those who enjoy blending old and new and those who are starter collectors will appreciate the many opportunities at the Show. The 2014 Show lecture series will have Notable Women of the Main Line as its theme. Speakers will include Jeff Groff, Director of Public Programs at Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library, who will speak on “Living Well: Some Notable Main Line Women of the Past and Their Houses” on Saturday November 15 at 2pm, sponsored by FREEMAN’S, and Leslie Anne Miller, renowned collector and author, whose talk is titled, “Start with a House, Finish with a Collection” and who will speak on Sunday November 16 at 2pm, sponsored by Mrs. Samuel M. V. Hamilton. Ms. Miller’s talk will be followed by a book signing. Ms. Miller’s book Start with a House, Finish with a Collection will be available for purchase at the Show and is also available for pre-order for pick up at the Show at www.mainlineantiquesshow.com/about-the-show/lectures/ or by calling 610-647-6404, ext. 111. The lectures themselves are free with Show admission.
In addition, there will be two special events: “Freeman’s Collections,” a talk on Saturday November 15 at 4pm by David Walker and Thomas B. McCabe IV, both Vice Presidents at FREEMAN’S (with wine and cheese and a private tour of the Show) and an Afternoon Tea at the Bistro on Sunday November 16 at 3pm. Reservations for the special events are at $20 per person. Moreover, there will be daily booth talks throughout the Show weekend.
The Radnor Hotel returns as the Presenting Sponsor in 2014. The Show is also fortunate to have AIG Private Client Group, MAGIS Insurance Group, Travel Services Company and FREEMAN’S as event sponsors.
