2015 Winter Antiques Show Rolls Out Impressive Lineup of Lectures and Special Events

In addition to the remarkable objects to be seen at the Winter Antiques Show, the prestigious fair is also recognized for its lecture series and special events that offer exciting opportunities for enthusiasts of arts, antiques, and design to learn from top professionals in the field. This year’s schedule presents two lecture programs, the Expert Eye Lecture & Book Signings series and the Loan Exhibition Lecture series; a panel presented by Chubb Personal Insurance, 2015 Presenting Sponsor; and the celebratory cocktail event, Young Collectors Night. All lectures will be held in the Board of Officers Room at the Park Avenue Armory. Seating is on a first-come basis and is complimentary with admission to the Show.

At first, newly-minted American millionaires sought out things that were luxurious, costly and modern. By the late 1880s, however, those at the top of the American social pyramid began to see that old foreign things with aristocratic histories were even more desirable than anything modern.

The Winter Antiques Show celebrates its 61st year as America’s most prestigious antiques show, featuring 73 renowned experts in American, English, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts in a fully vetted Show. The Show was established in 1955 by East Side House Settlement, a social services institution located in the South Bronx. All net proceeds from the Show benefit East Side House Settlement.
