On August 26, 27 and 28, another Dixon (in the person of Leslie Dixon) will be on hand for the 12th annual Maynard Dixon Country art show and sale that benefits the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts.  Leslie is a gifted screenwriter whose credits include the recent hit “Limitless” as well as “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “The Thomas Crown Affair,” and “Hairspray.”   Leslie will be in Mt. Carmel, Utah, with her husband Tom Repelewski to present his documentary “Child of Giants” at the Saturday afternoon symposium as part of the three-day event.  “Child of Giants” is a ‘labor of love’ project about Leslie’s father Daniel Dixon’s life with two remarkable artists of the last century – the great American artist Maynard Dixon and renowned photographer Dorothea Lange.  It is a beautiful and revealing look at two artistic icons.

Maynard Dixon Country is a 3-day event where 30 – 35 premier landscape painters from around the country gather to work and celebrate the legacy of Maynard Dixon.  Over two hundred pieces from this group will be on sale.  Part of the proceeds from art sales during the show are used to support the work of the Thunderbird Foundation, which offers retreats for artists on the Dixon property, art scholarships for high school students and art camps for people with special needs.
