David Cassera is pleased to announce an extraordinary exhibition of Tribal & Modern Art during New York Tribal Art Week beginning the second week of May. This special showing runs concurrently with Sotheby’s sale of the Allan Stone Collection of African, Oceanic and Indonesian art (part 2) and Bonhams’ sale of African, Oceanic and Pre-Columbian art.
The exhibition will take place at Galerie Mourlot on the exclusive Upper East Side of Manhattan. In November, 2013 Cassera joined forces with Eric Mourlot, a descendent of Atelier Mourlot, which became famous for assisting Matisse, Braque, Bonnard, Rouault and Joan Miró in the creation of important lithographs. In 1945, Pablo Picasso elected the Mourlot studio for his return to the lithographic medium. Also located in the same townhouse is the Michelle Rosenfeld gallery who has presented exhibitions and sold; Arman, Basquiat, Braque, Calder, Chagall, Miro, Picasso, Renoir & Warhol, to name a few.
Cassera will also feature contemporary master works by celebrity fine artist Michael Kilgore, who became a Fine Art Major at the age of twelve, inspired by the relationship between lines, shapes and proportions. His mentors included Michelangelo, Romare Bearden, Picasso, Matisse, Basquiat, Rene Magritte and Modigliani... his sense of color, from Yves St. Laurent - in the fashion world, he is known as “Mikel Kilgour” an international couture designer of both, womenswear & menswear for an elite clientel.
Collectors of Kilgore's Fine Art interpretations are inclusive of Ryan Seacrest, Janet Jackson, Kenny Lattimore, Debbie Allen, “Diddy”, Constance White, Dave Winfield & Earvin “Magic” Johnson, the host of two “exclusive” Art exhibits in Beverly Hills, California. To add, a myriad of private collectors - east coast to west coast.
Upon meeting Dave Cassera, there was an immediate creative–chemistry between their artistic minds — juxtaposing the ancient–artifacts represented by Cassera, with the contemporary masterworks created by Kilgore. Their inspired collaboration, is entitled: ANCIENT-FUTURE and debuted at the San Francisco Tribal & Textile Arts Show in February 2014.
