ONLY ONE WEEK REMAINING: Maurice Golubov (1905-1987) Ahead of Time, an exhibition of paintings runs through October 15th at Levis Fine Art's Chelsea gallery, 514 West 24th St., New York.
This exhibition of the artist's visionary Abstract paintings, spanning 1925-1978, illustrates Golubov’s genius with form and color and has been received with a high level of interest by collectors and curators.
Golubov’s artistic voice and search of the “fourth dimension” is timeless and even more relevant today than when he created the paintings beginning in the 20’s, as the youngest student in the Art Students League. When Golubov was asked by critic Greta Berman to expand on his influence for his work, he replied “I snatch constantly eternal life from death through beautiful permanent forms and symbols”.
Prior to this exhibition, the last major exhibition of his work came about in 1983, through his dealer, Tibor de Nagy. The exhibition travelled to 5 museums, including the Mint Museum and the Jewish Museum. We are honored to present such a comprehensive exhibition more than 30 years later. Other major examples of his work are at the Metropolitan Museum and the Smithsonian American Museum as well as many smaller museums.
A full color catalogue with essay by Lilly Wei, containing additional insights from Greta Berman, Susan Larsen, Francis V. O’Conner and Linda Dalrymple Henderson support this exhibition.
