Lawrence Fine Art will present work by seminal pop artist Marjorie Strider and a series of black on white works by Rolph Scarlett, among others, at the upcoming Boston International Fine Art Show, November 13-16.
"This is our sixth appearance in Boston," said Gallery Director Howard Shapiro. "It has turned into so much more than marinescapes and impressionism for us."
The gallery will exhibit works by seminal pop artist Marjorie Strider, among others. "Pop Art has become a sort of universal medium and Strider was there from the very beginning" said Shapiro. "We think our clients will positively react to her work."
Also on display will be a series of black on white works by American modernist painter Rolph Scarlett. "Scarlett was there for every iteration of modernism in America," said Shapiro. "These black on white works from the 50s show the cross-fertilization between Scarlett and such painters as Motherwell and Franz Kline."
All of the works come from the colleciton of Sam Esses. "This has been a real treasure trove of important work from the 30s, 40s and 50s," said Shapiro.
The overall presentation will take a more contemporary tone this year. Lawrence Fine Art will also offer work by Etsuko Ichikawa ("a real favorite of our Boston clients"), Suzanne LaFleur and Harriette Joffe.
