GROGAN & COMPANY, Fine Art and Jewelry Auctioneers, is holding an auction of a private collection of fifty-nine vintage pedal cars this Thursday, January 22nd. The cars come to Grogan & Company by way of the Attleboro Arts Museum, where they were on display as part of the 2014 exhibition “Compact and Collectible: An Exhibition of Vintage Pedal Cars.” The collection highlights the history and development of pedal cars, with examples (in both original and restored conditions) from the 1920s through the 1970s. It includes fine selections from each of the leading pedal car manufacturers, such as Steelcraft, Garton Toy Company, Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company, and Tri-Ang Toys, and highlights the work of visionary 20th century designer Viktor Schreckengost. From fire trucks to police cruisers, army jeeps to tractors, and airplanes to race cars, this collection has something for everyone.
Exhibition hours are this Monday, January 19 – Thursday, January 22 from 12 noon – 6 pm, at Grogan & Company’s Boston gallery, and the sale begins at 7pm on Thursday. For more information, and to view the illustrated online catalogue, please visit www.groganco.com.
