LARCHMONT, NY, April 14, 2011 . On Sunday, April 17th at 12:00 Noon, Clarke Auction will sell 400 lots drawn from estates on Central Park West and Sutton Place and from Great Neck, Scarsdale, Greenwich, and Brooklyn Heights.
Fine Art includes Americo Di Franza, Christina Morton, John Burr, Clifford Alexander, Mary Townsend Mason, John Clifford Huffington, Ivan Olinsky(2), James Crawford Thom, Terrance Lindall, Dey De Ribcowsky, Edouard Pail, Paul Dupuy, Bogomir Bogdanovic, Rufino Ceballos, John Sloan, Diana Thorne, Alvin Carl Hollingsworth, Eduard Veith, Bernard Neuville, Walasse Ting, a rare Kinichiro Ishikawa oil, Foussa Itaya, Raul Rengifo, a c.1840 oil possibly by David Roberts, and other works still being catalogued.
Sculpture highlights include life-sized monogrammed ethnographical plaster busts of Filipino natives; marble neoclassical busts, signed bronzes including Hans Bitterlich, James Gruzalski, Eutrope Bouret, Auguste Moreau, a Vienna bronze parrot-form candleholder and other signed and neoclassical bronzes.
Antiques include a single owner collection of 18th and 19th C. American, English and French furniture with original finishes and single plank construction. Examples include a burlwood corner cabinet, Louis XV-style chairs, American Queen Anne tables, Georgian lowboys, and a collection of candlestands.
The same collector also provided some of the listed art above as well as a collection of 19th C. American, English and Continental portraits of children.
Midcentury Modern design examples are a Laurel Lamp, a B&B Italia settee, designed by Antonio Cittero; a set of six Robsjohn Gibbing dining chairs, a Aldo Tura emerald teacart, midcentury leather chairs, a Holly Hunt Troscan rosewood top table and leathertop bench.
Carpet highlights such as semi-antique Bokhara, room-sized Sarouks, Kazak, Heriz; handmade runners and scatter rugs will also be auctioned on Sunday, April 17th.
A large collection of Sterling includes thirty-six Steiff mint julep cups, large Gorham tureens, two large sets of Georg Jensen sterling flatware, one "Acanthus" and one "Acorn"; and mixed lots of Caldwell, Gorham, Continental and other pieces still being catalogued.
Decorative Arts include a vintage Automaton Musical Singing Bird in a Cage, an Eduard Stellmacher porcelain bust of a beauty, a Royal Doulton Flambe Veined Vase, a dozen signed Tiffany favrile glass sales, a large collection of German steins, a large Sevres-style pedestal and jardinere, a Bronze Art Nouveau match strike, a collection of Sarreguemines porcelain, an early Lenox teaset and large French porcelain platters.
