Beginning around the 1400’s, the extremely long, rich celebrated history of painting in Venice produced masterpieces by geniuses such as Bellini, Canaletto, Turner, Monet, Moran and Sargent to name a few. This magical city with its completely unique ambiance and glowing light certainly inspired the wonderful painters included in the current exhibition at MME Fine Art which pays homage to not only Venice but to other, gifted American painters who fell in love with this enchanting subject as well.
Walter Launt Palmer (1854-1932), one of our beloved artists and prize pupil of the great Frederick Church, is represented with three, very different and beautiful paintings, all of which evoke Venice’s iconic, romantic and luminous light. Other talented painters of note included in this shimmering show are Thomas Moran, George Loftus Noyes, Andrew Bunner, Francis Hopkinson Smith, Maurice Prendergast and Guy Wiggins.
