Geneva, Switzerland—Artvera’s Gallery will present an exhibition of 20 works by Modern and contemporary artists at The Alpina Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland, February 12 – February 19, 2014. Curated by Artvera’s director Sofia Komarova, the exhibition is drawn from the gallery’s extensive collection of Modern art and includes works by Pierre Bonnard, Gustave Cariot, André Derain, Raoul Dufy, Friedrich Karl Gotsch, Edvard Munch, Camille Pissarro, and Maurice de Vlaminck as well as paintings by Gérard Schneider and Danièle Akmen.

Modern Masters, Lyrical Abstraction, and Contemporary Art offers an exclusive opportunity to see rarely exhibited works by some of the most celebrated Modern artists. Among the exhibition highlights is a still life by Pierre Bonnard, Le Compotier (1914). Depicting a bowl of fruit painted in a luxurious palette of light yellows, oranges, blues, greens, and violets, Le Compotier exemplifies Bonnard’s new style in the first decade of the 20th century. Also on view is André Derain’s La Musique (c. 1904-1905), formerly in the collection of John Quinn, a leading player in the Modernist movement, and Camille Pissarro’s Vue sur le village d’Osny (1883). 

In addition to Modern masterpieces, the exhibition showcases works by a Swiss-born lyrical abstractionist Gérard Schneider and five paintings by a contemporary French artist, Danièle Akmen.
