A RECORD-SIZED PEARL ON A CRACKER OF DIAMONDS, ROYAL SILVER AND A MASTER’S DECOY WILL AUCTION IN RAGO’S DECEMBER 5,6,7 GREAT ESTATES WEEKEND.
Lambertville, NJ: Rago rounds out 2014 with a three-day, 1500 lot auction of property from private homes and fine estates.

SILVER (Lots 1-102)
Decorative accessories, flatware and Russian enamel. Three Earl of Warrington, Dunham Massey silver serving platters. Jensen, Gorham, Tiffany & Co., Buccellati, Whiting, Wallace, S. Kirk, Woods & Hughes, Reed & Barton, Hector Aguilar.
Lot 24, Three Earl of Warrington Silver Serving Platters, Dunham Massey, estimate $20,000-30,000.
These three oval silver serving platters are part of an 18th century armorial service created for the 2nd Earl of Warrington, George Booth (1675-1758), and the 5th Earl of Warrington and Stanford, George Harry Grey (1737-1819). One was made by Peter Archambo, a Huguenot silver and goldsmith, in London in 1730 for George Booth. Two were made by John Wakelin & William Taylor, London, in 1786, for George Harry Grey. (Wakeline and Taylor made six platters in all.) On each platter the Earl's coronet surmounts the coat of arms of Henry Booth, 1st Earl of Warrington (1652-1694) and his family motto "Quod Ero Spero" (translated as "What I hope to accomplish, I will accomplish" or "Hope, Perseverance, Success").

COINS AND CURRENCY (Lots 200-281)
U.S. coins and currency, tokens, foreign coins and currency, bronze art medals, and ancient Byzantine, Roman and Macedon coins. The first 27 lots are from the Collection of Robert L. Coe of Waterbury, Connecticut. Mr. Coe was the President of Chase Brass and Copper Company. He served as Special Envoy to England for the Economic Cooperation Administration, the government agency created in 1948 to administer the Marshall Plan.

Lot 2557: The star lot is the largest known near-round natural saltwater pearl brought to market. It is a drilled natural saltwater pearl of the Pinctada species of oyster measuring 19.08 x 18.88 x 16.50mm. with no indication of treatment; near-round; white body color; orient overtone (GIA Pearl Identification Report #2165503254). The 19th century oval brooch onto which the pearl is set contains 16 near colorless old mine cut diamonds, (approx. 28 cts. TW), and numerous smaller rose cut diamonds set in silver topped gold. $100,000+
