Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the peaceful escape we’ve all been hoping for, a video game that allows players to design a dream island lifestyle from the comfort of their homes. You can plant trees, trade clothing with friends, design your house, and now you can wear Van Gogh’s “Irises” on your shirt, add a Renoir or Monet to your wallpaper, rep Rembrandt on your island flag, or host your very own art exhibition with a new tool Getty is launching.
The Getty's new Art Generator transforms any open-access image in the Getty Museum’s collection into a mini artwork for Animal Crossing. Search images from the online collection or choose from some museum favorites, available in the generator, then scan the QR code to bring the artwork into your game.
With a special converter allows for open-access artworks provided by other museums as IIIF images can also be easily transformed and shared (IIIF is an image framework adopted by many collecting institutions, including Getty, used to navigate and share art and archives).
Learn more and enjoy your very own art-filled island.
