Edgar Payne Painting Featured at Matthew's Auction

Matthew’s Galleries of Lake Oswego, Oregon, is offering an Edgar A. Payne (American, 1883-1947) painting as its featured lot in its spring fine arts auction, March 20th. Fresh on the market, “Off Shore, French Tuna Boats”, 20" x 24", carries an estimate of $20,000-30,000. The sale of 19th & 20th century California, Northwest, American & European art includes more than 120 lots. Another painting of note is a rediscovered oil by the 19th century Oregon landscape artist William S. Parrott (1843-1915). The 20" x 30" oil depicts a rocky forest interior, and is estimated at $7,000-10,000. Other California and Northwest artists included are Conrad Buff, Arthur W. Best, Frederick F. Schafer and many others. Fine prints include work by Marc Chagall, Rufino Tamayo, Gatja H. Rothe and others. While the auction is live at the gallery, internet, absentee and phone bidding are encouraged.
