The LAA Presents a New Exhibition: "The New England Landscape Invitational"

The Lyme Art Association, at 90 Lyme Street, Old Lyme Connecticut, will present the New England Landscape Invitational Exhibition, on view from September 27 through November 9, 2013, with an opening night reception on Friday, October 4, from 6 – 8 pm. Lyme Art Association member artists along with select Invited Artists will be exhibited throughout the Association’s historic galleries, and Essex Savings Bank and Essex Financial Services are the Presenting Sponsors.
The exhibition will be juried by Harley Bartlett, a master landscape artist based in Rhode Island. Stapleton Kearns, Barbara Applegate, Christopher Magadini and Barbara Bemis Adams will be among the artists showing in the Invitational.
“This is our most popular annual exhibition, showcasing exceptional work from both invited and juried artists from all over the Northeast,” stated LAA’s Executive Director Susan Ballek.
“It is always a pleasure to display work by Christopher Magadini and Stapleton Kearns, who are both returning as an invited artists this year. Magadini is an accomplished painter and illustrator, and Kearns is a popular plein air painting workshop instructor at the Lyme Art Association,” noted Ballek. “The Association is also thrilled to showcase work by Barbara Bemis Adams for the first time. Adams’ pastel landscapes are quite captivating, and will appeal to visitors who appreciate contemporary artwork.”
The exhibition will open on September 27 and run through November 9, and all work will be for sale with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Lyme Art Association.

The Lyme Art Association was founded in 1914 by the American Impressionists and continues the tradition of exhibiting and selling representational artwork by its members and invited artists, as well as offering art instruction and lectures to the community. The Lyme Art Association is located at 90 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT, in a building designed by Charles Adams Platt and located within an historic district.
