DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR SECURES HISTORIC 69th REGIMENT ARMORY FOR INAUGURAL NEW YORK EDITION IN MAY 2014

DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR announces its inaugural edition in New York City, May 8-11, 2014, with a distinguished, landmark venue: the 69th Regiment Armory at Lexington Avenue between 25th-26th Streets. 100 years ago, New York City’s iconic armory hosted one of the most acclaimed art fairs in history, introducing American audiences to the avant-garde trends in art from Europe. The launch of the DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR celebrates and rekindles the excitement and energy of that game-changing event.

DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR will feature 50 national and international galleries, selected by our committee comprised of Nancy Hoffman of Nancy Hoffman Gallery (NY), Yossi Milo of Yossi Milo Gallery (NY) and William Shearburn of William Shearburn Gallery (St. Louis). Hailing from cities all around the globe, DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR exhibitors will represent the most compelling contemporary work from emerging, mid-career, and established artists.

DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR is the premiere art event for all serious collectors, curators, museum directors, and consultants, providing an intimate look at some of the most important work at the forefront of the international contemporary art movement. DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR promises a unique mix of emerging, contemporary and exceptional 20th century artwork along with a dynamic range of installations, artistic programming and auxiliary events.

DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR’s Opening Reception will be on Thursday, May 8 from 6-9pm with the fair continuing through Sunday, May 11.

DOWNTOWN ARMORY FAIR at the 69th Regiment Armory offers a remarkable opportunity for cultural programming in a historic New York City landmark. The 69th Regiment Armory has 30,000 square feet of exhibition and project space as well as a centrally located position in the heart of Manhattan and adjacent to Madison Square Park.
