The 29th Annual Antique Ethnographic Art Show in Santa Fe will be held at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center in historic downtown Santa Fe. Whitehawk shows expects over 150 dealers in Oceanic, Pre-columbian, Spanish Colonial, African, Oriental, Indonesian and other ethnographic art from around the world to exhibit.
Block says the show opens with a Gala Preview on Thursday, August 9th from 6 - 9pm and runs through Saturday, August 11th.
Among highlights at the Throckmorton Fine Arts stand will be a Chinese Head of Buddha in marble, 9.5 inches high, dating to the Tang period, 618-907 CE; A Chinese Qijia Culture Bi disk ca 2000 BCE, the Neolithic Era, almost twenty inches high,; a Late Classic, 600-900 CE Mayan Icensario with Overlord depiction of polychrome ceramic 8.75 inches high and 10 inches wide; a Seated Shaman with Snake Hair, Diquis 600-900 CE of Volcanic stone 15 inches tall; and a Serpentine Mezcala Temple Model c700-300 BCE ten inches high and 3.75 inches wide.
For 25 years Throckmorton Fine Art has specialized in vintage and contemporary photography of the Americas with a primary focus on Latin American talents. The gallery’s founder, Spencer Throckmorton, has also pursued a long held interest in Chinese Jades and Pre-Columbian Art and Throckmorton has staged important exhibitions and published numerous publications on these subjects.
