Matthew's Galleries of Lake Oswego, Oregon, announces its Spring Fine Arts Auction, March 12, 2013, of American & European paintings, watercolors & fine prints. Highlighting the sale is "Shore Scene" by Maurice G. Logan (American, 1886-1977). The 20" x 24" oil on canvas is Logan at his best, with an estimate of $30,000-50,000. Also of note is "Bull Moose" by Carl Rungius (American, 1869-1959). Estimated at $25,000-35,000, it measures 14" x 18". Of interest to Northwest collectors are three paintings by William S. Parrott (American, 1843-1915), two by his wife Sue Parrott, and one by his famous student Eliza R. Barchus. Besides Northwest, California and general American paintings, the auction includes fine prints by Picasso, Whistler, Northwest regionalists and others.

Matthew's Galleries was opened by its current owner/director Matthew W. Gerber in 1968. The specialty has always been quality 19th & 20th century American paintings with some European works as well. Emphasis is on Northwest and California regionalist artists. The retail part of the gallery offers at least 300 works for sale on exhibit at any given time.
