Lillian Nassau LLC proudly announces its participation in the inaugural PAD (Pavilion of Art and Design) New York show to be held at the Park Avenue Armory, located on Park Avenue between East 66th and East 67th Streets from Thursday, November 10, through Monday, November 14.

Known primarily as the gold standard in the handling of the work of Tiffany Studios, including lamps, glass, pottery, mosaics, windows and metalwork, Lillian Nassau LLC will exhibit and offer for sale objects spanning a century of design. Prominently displayed amidst several exceptional pieces by iconic designers including Louis Sullivan, Orrefors, Jean Mayodon, Gertrud and Otto Natzler, Axel Salto, Harry Bertoia, George Nakashima and Paul Evans will be an impressive array of Tiffany Studios lamps and Tiffany favrile glass, first-class pieces for which the gallery has earned its reputation.

“As the dealer who has been credited with almost single-handedly reviving the interest in the lamps of Tiffany Studios, Lillian Nassau continues to move forward with the current trends,” says Arlie Sulka, long-time Managing Director and now Owner of the 66-year-old gallery.  Sulka continues, “The late Mrs. Nassau was always interested in exemplary objects that were being produced at the same time as Tiffany, but she also recognized the importance of contemporary design.  The renowned Mid-Century Modern designer Ed Wormley was a fixture at her gallery throughout the 1950’s and often paired his furniture with Tiffany lamps and glass. Mrs. Nassau herself synthesized contemporary furniture with her dynamic collection of Tiffany lamps in her home.”

“Continuing in the spirit of both Mr. Wormley and Mrs. Nassau, we are demonstrating how great design, freed from ideological restraint, can work together by placing a Tiffany Studios Lily Pad Table Lamp, circa 1905, on a George Nakashima low table, circa 1977.  A Tiffany Studios Turtle Back Hanging Shade, circa 1903, suspended above a Paul Evans Skyscraper coffee table, circa 1970, will further underline the harmony that can be achieved when pairing antique and modern. Additionally, a Louis Sullivan Elevator Door from the Chicago Stock Exchange, circa 1893, will be displayed next to the Art Deco ceramics of Jean Mayodon and Jean Besnard, circa 1925.”

Lillian Nassau LLC’s Stand, #34, at PAD New York undoubtedly promises to be an inspiring presentation.
