Bonhams Post-War and Contemporary Art Sale in London on 1 July saw strong prices paid for works by Anish Kapoor, Anselm Kiefer and Lucio Fontana.

Anish Kapoor’s 2012 Untitled – a monumental magenta disc in stainless steel and lacquer – sold for an impressive £482,500, after it was hammered down to a bid on the telephone.

Anselm Kiefer’s Maria durch den Dornwald ging was another sought-after lot that made  £302,500, after a lot of competition in the saleroom.

Bonhams Head of Post-War and Contemporary Art, Ralph Taylor, said: “These pieces by a trio of modern masters stood out in a strong sale. It was particularly gratifying to achieve such an impressive result for one of Kapoor’s signature mirror works. This is an artist whose work continues to go from strength to strength in this saleroom.”
