On Tuesday, April 22––when many kids are on school vacation––the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will kick off a naming contest for two life-size bronze Great Danes, who are lounging outside in the Museum’s Calderwood Courtyard.
Created by Boston sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington (1876–1973), the pair will have a special "doggie bowl" where visitors can submit their favorite dog names for the Museum's new best friends. Fans can also submit their suggestions on the MFA's Facebook page. But forget "Spot" and "Fido," ideas for fun and clever monikers are encouraged!
The "Best in Show" names will be chosen by Malcolm Rogers, the Museum's Ann and Graham Gund Director, and announced on Facebook on May 14, with the winner awarded a special treat: free membership for a year.
