Cologne/Nuremberg in October 2020.

At the Cologne auction house VAN HAM, a unique piece by the street art artist XOOOOX set a new auction record on October 7, 2020. The work Laguna Bay (stencil on metal) reached 8925,- Euro incl. premium. The "only internationally" successful street art artist XOOOOX, according to several press organs, is represented mainly by GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL.

In spring 2018, FOCUS Magazine already reported on the Berlin street art artist XOOOOX in issue 17/2018 and recommended the first graphic edition as an art tip.

XOOOOX (*1979) is a German street art artist who lives and works in Berlin. Similar to Banksy, the true identity behind this pseudonym is unclear. Interesting to know, however, is that he was sent to prison for a few days during his school days for damage to property after his Street Art had been betrayed by someone at the police.

His life-size stencil works show perfectly styled female models, which he stages according to fashion campaigns. But for the background he uses materials with a history, such as decayed or weathered woods and fabrics. Thus he creates a contrast to the glamour of the fashion world. In many of his works he also uses logos of fashion brands, which he alienates. In some cases, this can be understood as homage, as is the case with brands that look back on a long tradition. In others it is rather a criticism of the over-industrialization of fashion and invites the viewer to question it.

Galerie Frank Flügel with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel focuses on high-quality originals of Pop Art, Street Art and Contemporary Art.

You will find works of art by Alex Katz, Mel Ramos, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol or Julian Opie in the inventory. But also editions and prints by Harland Miller, David Salle, Sean Scully, Gerhard Richter, Robert Indiana, Allen Jones, Thomas Ruff, David Gerstein, Peter Doig, Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Raqib Shaw and Robert Longo. Also other street art artists like Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, Fringe and John Crash Matos. Of course also design objects by Maurizio Cattelan, Paul Smith or Philippe Starck.

Exhibitions take place in regular rotation in the centrally located stores in Nuremberg and Kitzbuehel. International trade fair participations round off the program.
