2015 Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show Hosted Over 50,000 Knowledgeable Collectors & Art Enthusiasts Over President’s Day Weekend

The Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show came to a close on Tuesday, February 17 after five days of impressive sales and record breaking attendance, solidifying its reputation as the premier show of its kind and a must attend event during the Palm Beach social season. Once again the Palm Beach County Convention Center underwent a grand transformation, morphing into one of the finest art, antique and jewelry exhibitions in the world reveling the world’s best museums. This year's show drew over 50,000 attendees, who were given the opportunity to view and buy more than a billion dollars in offerings from 182 international exhibitors over Presidents’ Day Weekend.
Opening Night began with a Private Collector’s Preview followed by an exclusive, invitation only, Heroes Reception, which honored the American Red Cross. Scott Diament, the CEO and President of the Palm Beach Show Group welcomed members of the American Red Cross' local Board of Directors and Benefactors of the 58th International Red Cross Ball to the special evening. Collectors in attendance of the Opening Night VIP Preview Party included Earle Mack, Kathy and Rick Hilton, Judith Guiliani, Henry Buhl, Andrea Stark, Bettina Bennett, Cheri Kaufman, Steven Stolman, Pamela O’Connor and Jean Shafiroff who came out to show their support.
“We are thrilled to have been able to partner with the American Red Cross and look forward to assisting them in their humanitarian efforts both in Palm Beach and around our nation,” stated Diament who unveiled the 2015 Designer Showcase and presented the American Red Cross with a check for $10,000. “The American Red Cross was honored to be named the charity partner for the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show. We were pleased to welcome many of our supporters to enjoy the Show and to thank its producers for supporting our work of providing help to those who rely on us during the most difficult times of their lives,” said Amy Mauser Chief Development Office American Red Cross South Florida Region.
This year’s show boasted an enviable selection of unique items and drew private collectors, museum curators, investors and interior designers who were able to view and purchase some of world’s most unique and coveted treasures all in one place and time.
“The show has been a huge success,” said Diament. “It met our expectations and we are delighted with the growth, recognition, and caliber of our exhibitors. The 2015 holiday weekend proved a boon for all, with numerous sales and a heavy volume of visitors showing major interest across a wide spectrum of offerings, from dazzling jewelry and accessories to rare antiques and paintings from established as well as iconic artists.”
Over the past 11 years the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show has grown in both recognition and praise for featuring the finest jewelry, art and antiquities from exceptional galleries worldwide. The 182 exhibitors showcased truly admirable collections, including American Art, French sculpture, Asian antiquities, Majolica, Tiffany glass, contemporary art, estate jewelry, and European silver and much more.
Early attendees took advantage of the Opening Night Preview resulting in numerous sales, the pace of which continued throughout the show with many important items being purchased every day. Some of the notable items included a Gauguin depiction of the town of Sevres and Craig Alan’s “Narrative: Peach Enchantment Butterfly Dress” and “Populus American Flag: “O Say Can You See” from the Guarisco Gallery. Valerio Antiques sold a silver-bronze sculpture on a portoro marble base by Raymond Guerbe.
Villa del Arte Galleries boasted sales of a mixed media painting by Josep Marti Bofarull dubbed “Up and Down Manhattan” and two Christiaan Lieverse mixed media paintings “The Arrival” and “Mist.” Lawrence Cantor Fine Art sold a Pezhman called “Jubilee” from the Boudoir Series, while House of Whitley sold “Le Banc De Poissons (School of Fish).” Collectors also acquired two Gary Stinton contemporary pieces, “Amur Tiger – Close Encounter II, “African Lion” and “Snow Leopard – Large as Life II” from the Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery, a rare molded Zinc lady tennis player weathervane in guilt surface from Roberto Freitas and a Jean Dufy watercolor called “Clowns Musiciens” from the Galerie Jacques Bailly in Paris, France.
Campion Platt curated and chaired this year’s Designer Showcase, which featured his central Christian Grey inspired room setting as well as the work of acclaimed designers Suzanne Kasler, Gil Walsh, Lars Bolander, Jenny Garrigues, and Bill and Phyllis Taylor. Incorporating treasures and one of a kind pieces chosen from among this year’s exhibitors, the acclaimed designers created awe-inspiring vignettes – from traditional, to minimalist contemporary.
In addition, the very well attended and informative annual Lecture Series, moderated by author and Veranda Interiors Editor Carolyn Englefield, remained a favorite activity among visitors. Campion Platt, William and Phyllis Taylor, Patricia Faber, Michael Cohen, Carole Thibaut-Pomeranz and Liza Laserow provided expert information and advice to packed rooms on a wide array of captivating topics.
