Art Miami Director Nick Korniloff Teamed Up with Ocean Drive Magazine Founder Jerry Powers to Create A New Publication that Takes Readers Through Miami Art Week and Miami's Ongoing Cultural Scene

Art Miami, the world-class contemporary art fair, announces the launch of Art Miami Magazine, the fair's first dedicated publication. Co-published by Executive Vice President and Director of Art Miami Nick Korniloff and publishing icon Jerry Powers, founder of Ocean Drive Magazine and Art Basel Magazine, the new publication will be a high-end coffee table magazine format. It will cover all things art in Miami, from fairs to art-world fashion, events, the business of art, and the enduring art and culture scene in Miami that fairs like Art Miami have helped establish.

Content of the inaugural issue includes an in-depth interview with the Pérez Art Museum Miami's new director, Franklin Sirmans, an exclusive with Donald Pliner on his return to Miami and his new store, a feature on Miami City Ballet's upcoming 30th anniversary, as well as an interview with artist Bernie Taupin on the inspiration, style and passion behind his art.

Launching in tandem with Miami Art Week, the publication will be distributed at hotels, boutiques, public venues, art fairs and through direct mail starting Nov. 25 through Dec. 8. It's only fitting that the publication is named after the Art Miami fair, the original and longest-running art fair in Miami and the No. 1 ranked international art fair for attendance in the U.S. The launch is also timed to the fair's 26th consecutive year on the Miami scene.

The cover of the inaugural issue of Art Miami Magazine features work by New York City-based abstract artist Doug Argue. The oil on canvas piece, titled "Night Poems," matches the tropical climate, sea, vibrancy and energy of Miami and will also be exhibited at this year's Art Miami fair.

"I chose this piece as our inaugural cover because I love the colors and energy that are thrown off the work," said Korniloff. "Doug is an extremely talented artist whose career I have been following closely, and his deep thinking is always conveyed in his work."

The Art Miami Magazine team includes Ocean Drive Magazine founder and former publisher, Jerry Powers; Editorial Director Jacquelynn Powers Maurice; Director of Sales Rich Santelises; and Creative Director Rick Delgado, among others. Partnering in the new publication is Art Miami LLC.

"We're so excited to work with Art Miami, the second-most-attended art fair in the world, with 85,000 visitors and growing, and to reunite most of the same team that created our city's iconic lifestyle magazine, Ocean Drive Magazine," said Jerry Powers. "It's a great opportunity to harness our experience and energy around this new great moment for Miami and the art world that surrounds it."

"With over 100,000 attendees spanning 20 art fairs and representing 50 countries, the first week in December in Miami has emerged as one of the most important cultural happenings in the world," added Powers. "A magazine capturing the zeitgeist of all of this art in a hip, fashionable and friendly manner has been missing in the marketplace-until now."
