Gray’s July 28 auction of Fine Furniture, Paintings and Decorative Arts celebrates the sesquicentennial anniversary of the start of the Civil War by presenting lot 177, a vivid Naval painting from 1865 titled ‘Our Flag is There’, painted after the original illustration by Thomas Nast (1840-1902) which appeared on the front cover of Harper's Weekly on February 13th 1864. Other highlights include a stunning collection of 19th century Rococo Revival furniture, a magnificent collection of bronzes and a superb late 18th century Indian gouache on handmade jute paper of the Raja Balwant Dev Singh on Horseback. The auction will take place in the auction showrooms at 10717 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio at 11am on Thursday July 28th.
