For the last decade, some of the most powerful and impactful stories published by National Geographic have been produced by a new generation of women. The 11 photographers featured in Women of Vision: National Geographic Photographers on Assignment are inspiring trailblazers and storytellers. They are as different as the places and the subjects they have covered, but they all share the same passion and commitment to storytelling that has come to define National Geographic. The nearly 100 photographs in the exhibition capture compelling stories of our planet and its people from the savannahs of Botswana to the war torn streets of Libya and Afghanistan; the beaches of the Jersey Shore to the Mongolian steppe or the rainforests of New Guinea. Women of Vision (see wovexhibition.org) opened at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D.C. in October 2013 and travels to five cities. Curated by Elizabeth Krist, senior photo editor for National Geographic magazine, the exhibition is a tribute to the spirit and the ambition of these journalists who have created powerful experiences for millions through the insightful, sensitive and strategic use of a camera.
