Homer’s Musical Muse with Katie Boardman
The Arkell Museum at Canajoharie will present “Homer’s Musical Muse with Katie Boardman” in the museum’s Great Hall on Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 pm. This program was developed in conjunction with the exhibition Winslow Homer: The Nature and Rhythm of Life currently on view in the gallery. Romantic places and remembered times were beloved topics for popular music in 19th century America. The painter, Winslow Homer, may have found inspiration for his more romantic painting "Moonlight" in sheet music engravings and Harper’s Weekly illustrations. Join Katie Boardman around her portable pump organ, guitar and mandolin to discover more about this music and sing along on choruses from popular tunes of Homer’s time. Nationally and locally- known songs and instrumental dances will be the fare. This concert and sing-a-long is free with regular museum admission.
