“Fever” in Wynwood District - Regula Mathys at RED DOT Miami 2012
Red Dot Miami is a highly successful art fair taking place concurrent with Art Basel Miami Beach. Up to 80 national and international dealers exhibit contemporary and secondary market photography, painting, sculpture and works on paper in a luxurious 60,000 square foot venue. This year, they are pleased to offer a solo section - Solo Projects - featuring 75 smaller booths for single artist projects. Some of this year’s highlights include artworks on canvas by Regula Mathys presented by the International Contemporary Masters Gallery at booth # C112. Just the artwork on canvas titled “Spring Fever” invites the art lover to discuss about it. The Swiss artist Regula Mathys looks full of happiness and gratitude in the future: "I`m pleased that the “International Contemporary Masters Gallery” has chosen my work to show it at the RED DOT Miami. The gallery is based in Santa Barbara/ California, where the American spirit is open for innovative ideas – and the gallery team acts successfully in the art market since many years. So I feel a certain satisfaction that after so many years of hard work and passion, I come along with it step by step. At home, in Switzerland, I am surrounded by nature, which influenced me significantly: observing the flora and fauna in all seasons, studying biological and meteorological phenomena in a long term. It is my own scriptum formed under highly concentrated perception, almost like a fever." Regula Mathys, born in 1964 in Basel/ Switzerland, studied Psychology and Art History. Since 1991 she created the series of works entitled "Traces, Font and Color." The artist, who is a member of the SGBK (Swiss Society of Visual Artists), is deeply involved in the magic cosmos of natural forces. Similar to nature her work reflects processes of forming, growth and change, becoming and passing away. Graphic elements, shapes and colors are playing a virtous relationship between background and foreground, silence and movement.
