Kathleen Elliot IMAGINARY BOTANICALS
The Tenri Cultural Institute, 43 West 13 St, in association with Katharine T. Carter & Associates is pleased to present IMAGINARY BOTANICALS by Kathleen Elliot this May 3 - 25, 2013. IMAGINARY BOTANICALS are exquisitely formed flame worked glass pieces incorporating human characteristics while re-imagining nature. Karen S. Chambers wrote the exhibition brochure’s essay. Robert Curcio of curcioprojects is the curator and manager of the exhibition. Elliot, who is based in Cupertino CA, exhibits pieces that remain close to their natural origins and many which seem like visitors from other worlds. Having practiced with Carlos Castaneda, who wrote of his encounters with a Yaqui shaman exploring alternate realities, Elliot explores a poetic realm of observing nature through an expanded organic vocabulary while reflecting the artist’s inner life. Elliot is currently in the middle of a national museum tour that began last year and continues into next year. The Morris Museum, NJ recently hosted an exhibition with upcoming exhibitions to include Ellen Noel Art Museum, TX; Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science, SD; and Hilliard Art Museum, LA. Exhibitions in 2014 throughout Florida include Ringling College of Art & Design Gallery, Armory Art Center, Mattie Kelly Arts Center and the Foosaner Art Museum.
