Gray's Auctioneers December 2, 2010 Oriental Rugs, Runners and Carpet Auction features an assortment of 109 beautiful lots. Included in this auction is Lot No 40 a rare and important Silver and Silver-Gilt Thread Embroidered Calligraphic Panel measuring 48 x 66 inches depicting the Tomb of Mohammed surrounded by calligraphic inscriptions that translate to "May God Shower His Blessing On Mohammed" and "There Is No God But Allah", the outer panels are tightly woven silver thread with silver woven lace borders. Other notable lots include Lot 106, a detailed multicolored Antique Lambolo Kazak Wool Rug measuring 8’8” x 5’11”, with geometric and flowered patterns. Also included is an Antique Pakistani Rellie Quilt or Coverlet that measures 10’ x 5’6” that has been delicately stitched with a symbolic family inscription that reads, “take another look, you’ll find a beautiful work and it’s explanation is a long discussion”. Gray's showrooms will be open for exhibition from November 12 - December 2, 2010, Monday - Friday, 10am - 5pm. Saturdays by appointment.
