A Gallery Talk by the artist Nelson H. White; In Conjunction with the exhibition: “The Subtle Genius of Henry Cooke White”
Inspired by last summer's exhibition, Visions of Mood, at the Florence Griswold Museum, The Cooley Gallery is very pleased to announce the exhibition and sale, The Subtle Genius of Henry Cooke White, by the beloved Connecticut artist. Until the recent museum show, this collection had been under the care of the artist's family for over fifty years. Pastel paintings of Old Lyme, Long Island Sound, Manhattan, Hartford and Venice will be on view and available for sale at The Cooley Gallery, 25 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT through August 7th. As part of this special exhibition, The Cooley Gallery is pleased to announce a gallery talk, given by the artist’s grandson, Nelson Holbrook White, Saturday, July 10th at 4:00 p.m. Nelson H. White inherited his family’s artistic legacy and has devoted his life to painting, teaching and artistic study. Continuing further with family tradition, Mr. White’s paintings hang in galleries and museums around the world. As part of the gallery presentation Mr. White will share anecdotes about his famous grandfather and discuss the deep artistic influences he felt from his father and grandfather as well as the family heritage of an appreciation for the gentler side of Nature. A native of Waterford, Mr. White grew up in the house his grandfather built and where four generations of writers and artists flourished. He now divides his year between Waterford and Florence, Italy.
