Pavilion of Art and Design New York
Building on the heritage of Pavilion of Art & Design London and the Pavillon des Arts & du Design Paris, the inaugural PAD New York fair coincides with New York’s fall cultural season of Impressionist, Modern, Contemporary Art and Design auctions to bring together a selection of 49 international galleries to the Park Avenue Armory. PAD New York will offer exceptional works of Modern Art, Design, Decorative Arts, Photography, Jewellery and Tribal Art from the 1890s to today. The fair will provide a unique opportunity to see and buy works by blue-chip artists and historic and established designers vetted by a panel of experts allowing you to buy in confidence. IMAGE: For this first Pavilion of Art and Design NY, the French architect Jean de Piépape will be the exclusive designer of the stand for Galerie DOWNTOWN. With all the geometry and subtlety that are the hallmarks of his reputation, Piepape will arrange a shrewd selection of furniture and objects, including seating and a staircase by Jean Prouvé, bench, seats and shelves by Charlotte Perriand. Shown here is PIERRE JEANNERET's circa 1955 armless easychair. Varnish teak frame resting on compass-shaped legs. Provenance : Special commission for the city of Chandigarh, India. © Marie Clérin / Galerie DOWNTOWN François Laffanour.
