These 26 bronze sculptures by Canadian sculptor Claude Hazanavicius will open the spring season at Odon Wagner Contemporary (gallery). The exhibition is titled with the French name Personnages, or "characters" in English. The sculptures vary in size from only a few inches high to over 25 inches. They are full of individual narratives and an endearing character. Artist's Statement: "The figures that I shape teach me who I am and often remind me of what I have lived. They appear like vague faceless memories, yet are charged with emotion. Shapes eroded by time much like fragile sculptures are wrought by the wind. Pablo Picasso said, "I do not seek, I find". As for me, I can only say, "I do not seek, I find myself". Ils apparaissent tels des souvenirs imprécis sans visage mais chargés d?émotions. Des formes que le temps a érodées comme fait parfois le vent sur des sculptures trop fragiles.
