On July 25th, Copley Fine Art Auctions presents the decoy and sporting art event of the summer. Pinnacle works by some of the world's most renowned decoy carvers will be offered for sale, including major works by the Ward Brothers, Obadiah Verity, William Southard, Gus Wilson, Nathan Cobb Jr., Fred Nichols, Shang Wheeler, and Clark Madara will be on offer. Additional important carvings by the Mason, Dodge, and Wildfowler Decoy Factories, Harry V. Shourds, Bert Graves, George Boyd, and a fine selection of miniature and contemporary bird carvings will also be offered. On July 26th, session two, the painting offerings include masterworks such as an oil by Frank W. Benson titled Redheads in Flight created in 1916 ($300/500,000). Ogden M. Pleissner's iconic oil painting, The Visitors ($75/85,000), and Aiden Lassell Ripley's bold watercolor depiction of pheasants ($20/40,000) will cross the block, along with 580 sporting art and decoy lots.
