Tour of the 2012 Whitney Biennial Led by Biennial Co-Curator Elisabeth Sussman Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 6–7:30 p.m. The 2012 Whitney Biennial provides a captivating window into the current state of contemporary art in America with sculpture, painting, installations, and photography—as well as dance, theater, music, and film—by fifty-one artists selected by Elisabeth Sussman, Curator/Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney, and freelance curator and writer Jay Sanders. Among the participants are painters Jutta Koether, Nicole Eisenman, and Andrew Masullo; sculptors Vincent Fecteau and Matt Hoyt; playwright and theater director Richard Maxwell; musicians Alicia Hall Moran and Jason Moran, as well as the rock band The Red Krayola; the choreographers Michael Clark and Sarah Michelson; installation artists Nick Mauss, Tom Thayer, and Michael E. Smith; filmmakers such as Kelly Reichardt, Thom Andersen, Matt Porterfield, Laura Poitras, and Michael Robinson; and photographers LaToya Ruby Frazier and Liz Deschenes. The program will begin promptly at 6 p.m. at the Information Desk in the Whitney’s lobby. Please enter through the museum’s main entrance at 945 Madison Avenue (at 75th Street). Space is limited and advance reservations are required. Admission is $75 per person. Please reserve your ticket before Monday, March 12.
