On Saturday, May 30 at 3pm, Dr. Salomon Grimberg, MD will give a talk on Frida Kahlo at the Throckmorton gallery. Dr. Grimberg is among the leading biographers and sources on the life and work of the famed Mexican artist. This is a unique opportunity to see vintage and rare images of FRIDA KAHLO by Gisele Freund, Nickolas Muray, Emmy Lou Packard, Diego Rivera, Juan Guzman, Peter Juley, Bernard Silverstein, Carl Van Vechten, Edward Weston, Lucienne Bloch, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Lola Alvarez Bravo, Mayo Brothers, Leo Matiz, Fritz Henle and Hector Garcia - as well as several works on paper by Kahlo in THROCKMORTON FINE ART's presentation of “Mirror Mirror……Frida Kahlo Photographs,” May 21 – September 12, The exhibition coincides with the May 16th launch of the NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN (NYBG) show FRIDA KAHLO: ART, GARDEN, LIFE, which features paintings and works on paper by Kahlo that “focus exclusively on Kahlo’s intense interest in the botanical world” and “a re-imagined version” of La Casa Azul, Kahlo’s home, garden and studio in Mexico, -- a tribute by the Enid A.
