The dynamic work of the artists featured in "What Nerve! Alternative Figures in American Art, 1960 to the Present" re-imagine the use of the figure in widely varying mediums and formats. Through a series of gallery conversations, artists, curators, and art historians explore key themes and issues that emerge from the exhibition and resonate today including the body as generative force, audacious sexuality, an interest in disguise and obfuscation, as well as the ambition to make works that break from the restraints of conventional categorization. Speakers include: Artists, Jim Drain, Carroll Dunham, Gary Panter, Peter Saul, Michael Williams, and author Nicole Rudick, along with "What Nerve!" co-curators Judith Tannenbaum and Dan Nadel. Free. Reservations requested, limited seating.
