Warhol's pretty Polaroids on view

The new exhibit "Andy Warhol's Quick Pix and Pop Icons," at the Hearst Art Gallery at Saint Mary's College of California, suggests, there's still much to discover about Warhol and his art.
Beyond some of his brash and commercial screen prints, "Warhol was also capable of great artistic beauty," says Saint Mary's professor Wesley Gibson, who curated the exhibit.
His Polaroid portraits are the most alluring part of the show. The faces of unidentified women, partially hidden in thick Kabuki-like makeup to smooth out complexions and wrinkles, emote surprise, self-consciousness, innocence and strength, which Warhol sensitively captured.
