Deitch to debut at MOCA with Dennis Hopper

Former art dealer Jeffrey Deitch has enlisted painter-director Julian Schnabel to curate his first show as the incoming director at LA's Museum of Contemporary Art.
The exhibition will be a survey of works by Dennis Hopper, the 73-year-old actor now stricken with cancer, who has had a long career in counterculture films and as an artist. Hopper's art ranges from Abstract Expressionist paintings to portrait photography of the likes of Paul Newman and Tina Turner.
Deitch says a "sculptural installation" will project the film “Easy Rider.” The show opens July 11.
