Enormous appetite for luxury goods worldwide boosts sales

An Asian private buyer paid almost $100,000 for a case of French wine this week.
The six bottles of 1961 Hermitage La Chapelle sold for a record price of 109,250 Swiss francs (98,587 dollars, 77,469 euros) at Christie's in Geneva.
Christie's sales of fine jewlery, watches and wine this week surged by more than two-thirds compared to last year to 62.9 million Swiss francs (56.7 million dollars, 42.1 million euros).
A fancy intense blue diamond shot up to 8.03 million dollars, about 1.05 million dollars per carat and a record for its type, in the Sotheby's jewelry sale which yielded 60 million Swiss francs overall.
