Jewelry, gemstones and watches took center stage during Jewelry Week in Las Vegas from June 3 to 6. Attendance increased by 15% at the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, an annual trade-only event, held over four days at the MGM Grand. Discerning dealers came to buy antique and vintage pieces for inventory.
More than 300 national and international dealers exhibited at the show. Among the highlights was an amazing 7.34 carat pigeon blood Burmese ruby and diamond ring. Other popular pieces included heavy Georgian and Victorian jewelry, such as a large gold locket with 3 carats of multi-colored sapphires and engraved with peony flowers.
“The gate saw a record number of buyers who were actively purchasing at this year’s show," said Andrea Canady, the fair's director . "This increase in attendees is a reflection of the stabilization of our industry.”
The next show organized by US Antique Shows is the Fourth Annual New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show being held July 23-26, 2010, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Tickets can be purchased online at www.NYAntiqueJewelry.com for a one-time admission of $15 valid for all four days of the show.
