At the New York City home/gallery of antiques dealer Carlton Hobbs is a dazzling exhibition titled "Inspired By Antiquity, Classical Influences I 18th and 19th Century Furniture and Decorative Objects." On display is an exceptional collection of Thomas Hope furniture and accessories assembled by esteemed collector Philip Hewat-Jaboor.
Hobbs' home was built in 1929 for Virginia Fair Vanderbilt and is one of the last grand private homes in the city. Inside is the single largest collection of Hope pieces to come onto the market since Christie's sold the contents of the influential 18th/e.19th c. designer's grand home, Deepdene, in 1917.
The exhibit will be open until February 18th.
